It’s the season for giving, and St. Mark’s much-loved Angel Tree ministry continues! This year we are adopting 11 families in need from Brooks Elementary School. We can make their Christmas a little merrier by providing clothing and toys to these children and families right here in our community. Stop by and select an angel from the tree in the lobby outside of the sanctuary and have fun shopping for our little angels. What a wonderful way to live into our vision of reaching out, serving our community and sharing the love of Christ. Wrapped gifts must be returned to church by Thursday, December 18th.
Contact Jen Bauldree, Co-Director of Children's Ministires, with questions. Advent Lessons and LunchThis week we reflect on what it means in our lives to Do No Harm. Community? Workplace? Congregation? WIHNThere are still several places that need servants. You are invited to review the sheets in the lobby area of St. Mark's UMC. Christmas Eve5:00 pm - Family Service. Coping with the HolidaysThe holidays which are upon us are supposed to be a time of joy, parties and gatherings with friends and family. But the holidays can be a stressful time under the best of conditions. The commercialization of the holiday season bombards us with unrealistic expectations especially in this troubled economy. With one in four families living with a family member with a mental illness, dealing with relatives and friends who do not understand a person's illness can be difficult. The brochure, “Mental Illness: Coping with the Holidays,” provides helpful self-care tips for persons living with a mental illness, tips for families and friends and tips for communities of faith. You are invited to download this brochure. |
